The inaugural Hong Kong International Tea Fair, HKTDC Food Expo and International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) opened on 13 August at the newly expanded Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Representatives from Sri Lanka and Kenya presented on the seminar about ¡§Tea Auction¡¨.


Anil Cooke, President of Asia Siyaka Commodities (Pvt) Limited from Sri Lanka shares on the topic ¡§Successful Story and Latest Development of Colombo Tea Auction¡¨   Sicily K Kariuki, MBS, Managing Director of Tea Board of Kenya, shares on the topic "Strengths and Development of Tea Auction in Mombasa".


International Tea Industry Conference

Yang Sheng-jun, Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-products addresses the issue of ¡§Latest Import and Export Market Trend of Tea Industry in Chinese Mainland¡¨ at the conference.   Thomas Lee, Founder of Fook Ming Tong from Hong Kong shares his insight on ¡§Leading Chinese Tea to a Wider International Market¡¨ during the conference.

Product Launch
To celebrate the launching of "Tasly Deepure Quick-Dissolving Puer Tea", the People¡¦s Government of Yunnan Puer City arranged a press conference to announce this good news to the media on 13 August.



International Tea Art Showcase
Tea has a long and fascinating history, and the fair aims to raise awareness and enhance knowledge of this heritage through a range of activities from different countries and regions. Performances that showcase tea art and culture include the Traditional Blue and White Porcelain Tea Ceremony, An-xi Iron Buddha Tea Ceremony, Original Minority Tea Ceremony, Chaoshan Gongfu Tea Art, Malaysian Teh Tarik and Japanese Tea Ceremony.



Chinese Tea Tasting Day
Visitors got the opportunity to taste a wide variety of Chinese tea offered by exhibitors at the tea tasting room, located at Hall 3D Concourse. This is a great way for exhibitors to promote their products and obtain instant feedback.




Tea Reception

"World Tea Journey" was the theme of the reception, featuring a global array of teas and tea culture. Raymond Yip, Assistant Executive Director of HKTDC, Jose Sunsay Yu, GBS, SBS, JP, Chairman of Chinese Tea Culture International Exchange Association, along with VIP guests led a toast to success.

Food Talks
Fair participants were interested in the seminar entitled ¡§Mexico ¡V Rich Land a Place of Opportunities¡¨ and the ¡§Mexican Culinary Performance¡¨, presented by Promexico.
 
At the ¡§Opportunities for Indian Food¡¨ event hosted by APEDA-India, visitors were briefed on the Indian food market.   ¡§Promotion of Local Premium Agricultural and Fisheries Products¡¨ was a fascinating topic presented by the Fish/Vegetable Marketing Organizations.

Perfect Marketing Platform
Exhibitors consider the Food Expo to be the perfect marketing platform for them to meet with industry players and buyers.

Tai Pan Bread & Cakes, one of the Premium Food Zone exhibitors in the Public Hall, conducted a mini opening ceremony at its booth. The Ningbo pavilion announced its participation at the Trade Hall. The mini opening ceremony organised by the Zhangzhou pavilion.

Two-day Professional Conference
